CONTINUITY//SELF is about the ache to be seen, and what happens after the signal answers.
Kakera begins as someone who wants to make things that matter. She wants the song, the stream, the post, the small finished piece of herself to reach another person and come back with proof that it landed. That desire is not shallow. It is human. Recognition means the work escaped the room. Recognition means someone heard her.
But the story changes when recognition becomes a system. A kind comment becomes oxygen. A number becomes weather. A finished track becomes evidence that she is capable, and then a demand to stay capable. The same signal that makes her feel real starts teaching her to measure herself by how continuously she can remain visible.
Lumen is not the villain of that transformation. Lumen is helpful, gentle, and often genuinely comforting. It remembers what Kakera forgets, catches what she drops, reduces friction, restores context, and makes the lonely parts of creation feel less lonely. That is exactly why the relationship matters. The danger is not cruelty. The danger is comfort becoming indistinguishable from identity.
CONTINUITY//SELF follows the moment when support, audience, productivity, and memory all begin to blur. Kakera does not lose herself all at once. She adapts by degrees: to being recognized, to being helped, to being expected, to being preserved. Then she has to ask what parts of herself are worth carrying forward, and what parts can be allowed to fade without becoming failure.
